A NIGHT OUT TO REMEMBER

Live Music & Supper Club in Great Ayton, 2nd April 2022.

We’re really excited to invite you to our Supper Club with live music from both the band AND our very special guests at the WI centre in Great Ayton. Enjoy a unique evening of live music by acclaimed 5 Piece Band Tuppenny Blue AND a very classy duet of Paul Whittaker and Lola Rose Wilson.

We’ve laid on 3 courses of fresh local cooked food with a vegetarian option available from our tried and tested partners at Gingerbread Cottage. This will be a night of community and fun. A fully seated – but very sociable – event. For more details see below. A limited number of tickets are available. We look forward to seeing you there!

The Music

Tuppenny Blue

“Fantastic Laid-Back Blues/Jazz Fusion”  – Jorvik Radio, York

“Wonderful Original Songs”  – Canillas Festival, Malaga

Tuppenny Blue are a Five-Piece band based in/around Whitby on The Yorkshire Coast. They meld their own unique sound of storytelling with a Bluesy/Jazz/Pop twist. They’ve been described as being “Somewhere between The Divine Comedy and Elbow – with a touch of The Thrills thrown in for good measure”. They’ve played in small café corners and on large festival stages from York to London and across the sea to Southern Spain. Their music has been broadcast both LIVE and as Studio Recordings on various local radio stations across the region. Listen to the band on your favourite streaming service – or get an Old-School CD* signed by the band members at at the gig!

*A Floppy-Disc type thing that is both inconveniently large and prone to becoming lost and/or damaged. Please note that these no longer fit into most computers.

“Fine Songwriting and Musicianship”  – Musicport Festival, Whitby

Take these links to a few of the numbers that we expect to include in our Set at this event…..

Special Guests: Paul Whittaker & Lola Rose Wilson

Expect some divine easy on the ears sounds with a set which includes a few unexpected numbers.

Lola Rose Wilson worked with us in the studio on our 2021 Christmas release FIRST EVER CHRISTMAS. The song was adopted as The Official Theme to Whitby Winter Festival 2021. At only 19, and waiting in the wings for Music College later in the year, Lola is both modest and charming. She has a fabulous voice that seems effortless and delightful. We are SO excited to be able to introduce her at this event, and like the other musicians involved in this event she’ll be coming round to chat & say hello during the course of the evening.

Paul Whittaker really is a top-notch guitarist.  Both technical and sensitive, Paul provides the perfect foil to Lola’s effortless vocals and together they make up a duo that is sure to be an easy-on-the ear, classy experience.

One-time session musician with “The Hit Factory” (Stock/Aitken & Waterman), Paul went on to work with the likes of Murray Head and Maggie Reilly. In his time has toured throughout Europe and in the USA. If you catch Paul for a chat on the night and you’ll find him both charming and modest. Mention any known musician from Paul’s era and he’ll likely have some story to relate.

Today Paul works as one of Whitby’s most in-demand guitar teachers with pupils of all ages. Paul works both in a School environment and at his home in Whitby. These days he also works remotely across the internet.

The Venue

Great Ayton WI Hall. 137 Newton Road, Great Ayton. TS9 6DE

We carefully choose venues where we know that the right atmosphere can be created for a relaxed and entertaining evening. Great Ayton has its own thriving social community and we are anticipating a good turn out for this event.

We’ll be sending our supper club team in earlier in the day to dress the place up to ensure that you’ll step through the door into a welcoming communal atmosphere. This venue benefits from a well-proportioned curtained stage.

The venue is easy to access from Whitby/Guisborough/Stockton etc. There’s a large on-site area around the hall to accommodate free parking. There should be plenty of space for everyone when you park with consideration to others.
